Hello, my name is Michael Jaeger and I’m the lead teacher in the Learning Support classroom. Our classroom has 7 students and 6 staff. The classroom staff includes Juanita C., Lucy B., Patricia D., Clayton B., and Evelyn O. Together we work to ensure success for our students. In the learning support classroom, we focus on teaching a functional curriculum, which means we focus on teaching skills that build independence, while teaching functional academics. Here at SMASE nothing is taught in isolation and curriculum is blended into everything we do. The ideas taught in the classroom are also being worked on in all other programs our students participate in. In addition to traditional functional academics, our class also participate in running the SMASE café, service learning in the community and even horticulture.
